Tour Overview

Embark on an unforgettable two-day trekking adventure in the breathtaking Simien Mountains National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its dramatic escarpments, rare wildlife, and panoramic vistas. Starting from Gondar or the nearby airport, this short but rewarding journey offers a taste of Ethiopia’s natural wonders, including encounters with endemic wildlife and awe-inspiring landscapes.

Day 1: Gondar / Airport – Debark – Sankaber Camp

Drive from Gondar or directly from the airport (depending on your arrival time) to Sankaber, approximately 136 km away. En route, you will stop at the park headquarters in Debark to register and pick up your trekking team, including a scout, guide, and cook (if required). After a 3–4 hour trek through scenic terrain, you will return to Sankaber Camp (3,250 meters) for an overnight stay.

Day 2: Sankaber – Jinbar Waterfall – Return to Gondar

Trek for about two hours to reach the stunning 500-meter-high Jinbar Waterfall. Along the way, enjoy breathtaking views of the escarpment and the lush diversity of alpine flora. You may spot unique wildlife such as the Klipspringer, Menelik’s bushbuck (a rare endemic antelope), and the ever-present Gelada monkeys. Although leopards inhabit the area, sightings are rare—perhaps you’ll be one of the lucky few! After lunch near the waterfall, a 4×4 vehicle will pick you up for the return drive to Gondar.
